Japan is a mysterious country. Yet it is also a deeply fascinating one.
I am Japanese. I was born in Japan and raised here. When I was young, there was a time when I grew tired of Japan and wanted to leave the country. However, going abroad was not a realistic option for me at the time. Instead, I looked for a job that would allow me to work with the outside world. Fortunately, I spent nearly thirty years in work connected with overseas business, which allowed me to travel widely around the world.

At the same time, in my private life I traveled abroad almost every year. In some years, I traveled several times. As a result, through both work and personal travel, I have visited more than sixty countries.
Through these experiences, I came to realize something important. Japan is a remarkable country. Its people, culture, history, and cities are all rich with character. It is truly a place that can stand proudly in the world.
On this website, I write about Japan from a particular perspective — comparing it with cultures overseas. Many things in everyday Japanese life may appear curious to visitors from abroad. Why are things done this way in Japan? What historical or cultural background lies behind them? These are the questions this site explores.

When we look at culture, there is always a story behind it. That story comes from the history people have lived through and the ideas they have developed over time. With this in mind, this website focuses mainly on Japanese culture for people visiting Japan, as well as for those around the world who are interested in the country.
I hope these articles will help you better understand Japan — its culture, its history, and its people.
